Sebastian Debertin, is Head of International Content, Acquisitions & Co-productions at KiKA – The Children’s Channel of ARD & ZDF.

Sebastian helped create and launch KiKA, Germany’s public kids content provider. KiKA’s TV channel also in 2020 was market leader in Germany again.

As Head of International Content Acquisitions and Co-Productions, Sebastian oversees all internat. acquisitions, productions and co-productions. He looks for both, Fiction and Non-Fiction projects/programs for KiKA and its platforms across all genres from international sources, more precisely, in Europe (France, UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, NL and Scandinavia). Furthermore, Canada, Australia and the US. South America, Asia(namely South Korea, Singapore) complete the main countries where the majority of programs come from.

Sebastian has been key in bringing major brands and super hit programs to the KiKA world, including Yakari, Fireman Sam, Guess how much I love you, Chloés Closet, Franklin, Carebears, Lily’s Driftwood Bay, Insectibles, Animanimals, Tib+Tumtum, Jakers!, Esme & Roy, Super Wings, Trotro, Annedroids, Mouk, The Cat in the hat, Blinky Bill and many, many more.

Sebastian also has won several national and international awards, including an Emmy and was honored recently with the 1st "TV Kids Pioneer Award".

His current animation projects are for e.g. the Emmy-nominated special The Lost Letter with Lupus Films/UK and Dream Logic, RTE/IRL, Dog Loves Books with Komixx Entertainment, BBC/UK, The Smurfs with IMPS-Peyo Prod./Belgium, Dupuis, TF1/France, Odo with Sixteen South, UK and Letko, Poland and Zodiak’s Mumfie.

Sebastian is sharing his experience and expertise at various Universities and Media Academies, e. g. The TV/Media Business School, The German Academy for Children’s Media and others.
